Approximately 800,000 litres of water is saved across all EBW outlets in India every month,” says Taksande. “The water is recycled in the machine itself and once it becomes non-usable we use it to water plants in the area around our outlets. “We were successful in setting a record of washing over 230 bikes in less than 10 hours in one of our service centers,” says Taksande. With recycling efficiency of 95%, the startup is moving beyond a focus on technological efficiency to look more closely at the interconnected activities driving unsustainable water consumption. It took them over 10 months to launch the first prototype of the EBW after their primary idea was improved upon “hundred times”, both at technical and business strategy level, says Taksande. The machines can be remotely monitored, using cloud-based technology. “The challenge was to perfect it into a market acceptable product followed by streamlining SOPs of the services on offer,” he says. “It’s a made in India brand, and we plan to expand into countries where motorcycles are in use,” says Taksande.
